Four steps, then you are running

Install, link Steam, listen for the pairing, pick your server. The whole thing takes about as long as a respawn.

The install

  1. 01

    Subscribe, then download the installer

Stripe hands you straight back to the download. It is a normal Windows .exe. There is no launcher and no account system beyond your Steam link.

  2. 02

Install, then link Steam in R0

R0 connects your Rust+ account once. It stays linked across wipes, so this is the last time you do it.

  3. 03

Turn on pair listen in R1, then pair in game

R1 sits and listens for the pairing that Rust sends when you press Pair on a smart switch, an alarm or the server itself. Turn it on first, then pair in game. This ordering is where most people trip.

  4. 04

    Pick your server in R2

R2 keeps a registry of every server you play. Switch between your main wipe, a staging server and a friend's server without setting anything up twice.

What you need

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • Rust, and a Steam account that owns it
  • The Rust+ mobile app once, to complete the initial Steam pairing
  • An internet connection, for live data and updates

RustPocket runs on your PC. It is not a website, it does not run in a browser, and there is no macOS or Linux build.

When Rust+ is not working

Most of these are not your server. They are the companion connection, and they are the reason this app exists on a desktop in the first place.

Rust+ says the server is offline when it is clearly running

This is the most common Rust+ complaint and it is usually the companion connection, not the server. RustPocket reconnects on its own, and refreshes anything that went stale while the link was down, rather than sitting on a cached answer until you restart it.

Rust+ will not pair with my server

Pairing is sent by the game at the moment you press Pair. If nothing is listening at that moment, it is gone. Turn on pair listen in R1 first, then press Pair in game. If it still misses, check that the server actually has the companion enabled - some modded servers do not.

Do I still need the phone app?

Once, to complete the initial Steam pairing, because that handshake goes through the official Rust+ app. After that RustPocket runs on the PC and the phone can stay in your pocket.

Is there a macOS or Linux build?

No. RustPocket is a Windows desktop program, 10 or 11, 64-bit. It does not run in a browser and there is no emulator build. If you have found a site offering an APK of it for PC, it is not ours.
